Moonstone

Moonstone happens to be up there on my personal list of favorite stones to wear and create with. It's ever increasing popularity has been slowly driving the costs up over the last few years. Available in a variety of creamy white to ivory shades, Moonstone is feldspar with an opalescent shine. Flashes of blue, pink, grey and yellow add to the the excitement of this beautiful and mysterious stone. Early Greeks and Romans believed it was made from rays of the moon and they attributed it to the Lunar Goddess.

Moonstone is available today in many popular forms for jewelry design including round, rough nugget and faceted. It is mined in Australia, Burma, Sri Lanka as well as in the United States and is the state gem of Florida.

This magical stone is believed to have metaphysical properties strongly connected to the emotions and one's feminine side. Moonstone is a soothing stone of balance. Treat yourself to some of this opalescent gem and see how wonderful you feel wearing it!

Here are a couple of pieces that I have created using Moonstone faceted briolettes.  You can find more moonstone and natural stone jewelry in my shop.  These two pieces have made their way to new owners!
